Greetings, How do you stay positive? I make a point of not watching the news and being very selective about which sections of the newspaper I read. I choose to not fill my senses with the doom and gloom that seem to be in every headline. It’s easy to underestimate the impact that an environment filled with negative messages has. You and I deserve better. On the flip side, it’s really quite simple to infuse your mind and heart with nurturing, positive influences. Support and resources to do just that are all around. The Power of Intention In a research study conducted by Brian Wong, over fifty-one percent of respondents reported that the Law of Attraction worked for them only sometimes with another eighteen percent reporting it worked only once or never! There has been a lot of talk over the last few years about the Law of Attraction. While it really does convey age-old wisdom, many people still struggle to understand and make use of it fully. Each of us can indentify something we wish for – something we want to happen. But most of us don’t know how to move beyond wishful thinking into concrete manifestation. “Conscious change is brought about by the two qualities inherent in consciousness: attention and intention,” writes Deepak Chopra in Seven Spiritual Laws of Success. “Attention energizes, and intention transforms. Whatever you put your attention on will grow stronger in your life…. Intention, on the other hand, triggers transformation of energy and information. Intention organizes its own fulfillment.” When you declare an intention, you gain the support of your subconscious mind. Here are some suggestions for how to work with intentions in order to bring what you need into your life. Get clear on what you want and why. It’s not enough to know what you don’t want. You can’t get what you want until you know what that is. Steven Covey in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, writes that all things are created twice. “There’s a mental or first creation, and a physical or second creation to all things.” Take action. Intention isn’t about sitting back and waiting for it all to come to you. When we commit to a thing by taking action, it’s often surprising how quickly our intentions are realized. You don’t need to know all the steps to take before you start. Simply take the action in front of you and be open to inspiration showing you the next step. Surrender control. This means to let go and trust. Let go of the particular way in which things will happen. Let go of fear, doubt, worry and disappointment. Let go of the notion of struggle. Trust that the outcome will be just right. Like any skill, using the power of intention takes practice. Practice the steps above, continue to learn about the power of intention and you will become skilled applying the Law of Attraction. The universe is infinitely more creative at helping you achieve your goals than you can predict. Keep your attention and intention focused and hang on for a wonderful ride.
